Here I revel some important techniques which will help students boost their memory specifically in the context of studying Physics.
1. Master the basics:
Physics is based on a number of central theories from which everything develops. It is therefore very likely that the problems that you will have to solve during the examination are based on these basic concepts or on a variant of these. Therefore, instead of trying to memorize complex problems, it is advisable to assimilate the basic concepts and theories that will help you understand the underlying principles and the connection between different topics.
An effective way to get an overview of these basic physical concepts and their relationships is to create a mind map, which I have taught in my Video Lectures.
2. Strengthen your math skills:
As already mentioned, if you study physics, you will find that it incorporates many mathematical elements. This means that you will easily master this subject if you master many formulas and problems. Review or study mathematics alongside your physics, which will help you improve your formulas and concepts management.
3. Simplify:
Try to simplify the situation as much as possible. The physics problem you are reading may seem difficult to solve at first, but take another look at it and start analyzing it. It is important to stay calm and try to bring the problem back to a situation that you are familiar with by simplifying it.
4. Use drawings:
An excellent way to implement the point above is to use drawings or graphics. I have already discussed the advantages of mind maps, but drawings can also be essential for understanding and studying physics. Whenever you can, I recommend performing a drawing to illustrate a concept.
5. Use cards to study:
Take note of new words, units of measurement, general principles, and other concepts that appear. This will help you follow the thread of the theory and strengthen the new information that will have positive consequences for problem solving.
To do this, Memory or Study Flashcards can help you easily organize all this information. See an example of Physics Flashcards creation which I have taught in my Video Lectures
These five techniques help many physics students at all levels, especially when used together. However, each student has his own way of learning and assimilating knowledge. We recommend that you try different techniques to find the one that suits you best.
Finally, share your experience with us, what techniques do you use to study physics?
